What if I don't know the vehicle's model year?

You don’t need a model year to search the FordParts.com catalog. You can search for the parts you need by entering the vehicle’s VIN.

What is a VIN and where can I find it?

 Your VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is a series of 17 alphanumeric characters that uniquely identifies your vehicle.

 

The characters themselves record specific information regarding the vehicle manufacturer, place of assembly and other pertinent vehicle information.

 

This number is found on a white sticker on the driver's front door or on the frame inside the door. It is also located on the metal tag affixed to the driver's side of the dashboard, closest to the windshield. It is viewable through the windshield. The tag is visible from the outside of the vehicle. The VIN can also be found in your vehicle documentation (e.g., registration, title, insurance policy, lease or promissory note).

What if I don't know the VIN?

You can search for the parts you need by entering the year, make and model of the vehicle. However, these search results are not as concise or reliable as a VIN search. If you plan to place an order on the site, we strongly recommend you find the vehicles VIN (usually on a metal tag affixed to the driver's side of the dashboard, closest to the windshield) and use the VIN search for the most accurate results.

How do I find a replacement for a competitive-brand part?

You can enter the part number of the competitive-brand part by clicking the “Interchange Guide” tab available on the homepage. The search results will display corresponding Motorcraft® part numbers.

What if I can't find a part?

If you register on the site, you may click the “Need Help Finding A Part?” button on the catalog search results page at any time. You can send a description, or even a photo, of a part you need to replace to your preferred dealer. Or, you can always call, email or, in some cases, send an instant message to your preferred dealer.

How do I know if a part is in stock?

Once you select a preferred dealer to shop with, you will be able to see if they have a part in stock or at an affilliate location of the preferred dealer. If not, they can typically get it to you by the next day at no additional charge. This information is available on the catalog search results page under the “Availability” column.

 

If you are a sponsored customer of your preferred dealer, you will be able to see the actual quantity of a specific part in stock at the dealer or affilliate location.

What if a part isn't in stock?

If your preferred dealer does not have a part either in stock or at an affiliate location, they can typically get it to you by the next day at no additional charge. Collision parts may take up to two days due to their specialized handling requirements. Your business is important to us and we strive to quickly deliver the parts you order from us.

What does the catalog plug-in allow me to do?

In order to provide you a more efficient, productive experience, the Internet Explorer image viewer plug-in for FordParts.com offers additional functionality in the cutaway illustrations of the catalog, including the ability to zoom in, pan and click a part in the illustration to add directly to your cart.

How do I chat?

You can find the live chat feature by clicking “Contact Us” at the top of the page or “Live Chat” under “Site Features” at the bottom of the page. A vehicle application expert will be available Mon-Fri 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST to assist you with finding the right part number for your vehicle application. During these hours, you can click the "Live Chat" graphic to launch a chat window. Simply type in your question and a response will appear shortly in the window.

Does Fordparts.com include all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models?

 Not yet, but we are continually updating our catalog. One hundred percent of the available Motorcraft®-branded parts, which represent over 80 percent of parts demand, are included in the present FordParts.com catalog. We also plan to add additional earlier-model vehicle applications each quarter to encompass all Ford Motor Company Genuine Parts for all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models going back to 1990. If the part(s) for your vehicle is not found in the current FordParts.com catalog, we sincerely apologize and encourage you to contact your Preferred Dealer who has the complete catalog. Also, if you are a licensed repair professional or manage fleet vehicles, you may be eligible for your Preferred Dealer to sponsor you. That could give you user training and direct access to a copy of their Ford Motor Company Genuine Parts Catalog, also known as Ford Catalog Advantage (FCA).
